Preparation & Logistics
Yes, even if you’ve spoken on one of our events or conferences in the past, we require you to attend a brief tech rehearsal. This is your chance to familiarise yourself with the event platform, test your camera and microphone, ensure your slides work, and understand the session format. You can book your rehearsal here: calendly.com/barbara-fundraisingeverywhereplus/30min
If the available slots don’t work for your schedule, please reach out directly to your event lead. We’ll do our best to find an alternative time that accommodates you.
A strong, stable internet connection is critical – wired (Ethernet) is best. Use a headset or external microphone for clear audio, and a high-quality webcam positioned at eye level with good front lighting. We recommend using a desktop or laptop, and Chrome or Firefox for the best performance.
To ensure smooth performance, close all unnecessary applications and browser tabs. If you’re screen sharing, have your content (like slides) open and ready in advance. Remember to mute notifications on all your devices.
Yes! On the day of the conference, you will be supported by one of our dedicated engineers who will be there to ensure everything runs smoothly from a technical perspective for your session.
If you’re pre-recording, treat it like a live session! Speak naturally, maintain eye contact with your camera, vary your tone, and use natural gestures. Ensure high-quality audio with a headset/external mic and good lighting for your video. Avoid virtual or blurred backgrounds.
If you’re taking part in a live Q&A, aim to be in the same location and wearing the same outfit as your recording for a seamless look.
Presentation & Content Delivery
All sessions in FE conferences are 30 minutes (including Q&A). Webinars are 1 hour (including Q&A). Accelerators are 3 hours.
For a 30-minute session (including Q&A), aim for 10-20 slides maximum. This helps keep your content concise and focused, allowing room for audience interaction.
Use clear, sans-serif fonts with high contrast. Ensure information isn’t conveyed by coluor alone, and use alt text for all images. Avoid jargon where possible, and use PowerPoint’s built-in accessibility checker.
Use bullet points and visuals instead of large text blocks. Include interactive moments like poll prompts or discussion questions. Engaging visuals and short, relevant video/audio clips (with captions) are also great. Don’t forget to add key takeaways at the end.
Keep slide animations minimal and only use simple transitions. Avoid auto-play audio or video. Always test all media within the platform you’ll be using during your rehearsal.
Please add your name, session title, and contact information to both your first and last slides.
Practice until you’re comfortable, but speak naturally as if to a friend. Maintain eye contact with your camera, vary your tone and pace, and use natural gestures. Engage with your slides by referencing what’s on screen. Try to minimise “umms” and “ahhs” for a smoother delivery.
Yes, please provide us with a PDF version of your slides (with accessibility tags if possible) to share with attendees in the delegate bag.
Event Day
Yes! On the day of the conference, you will be supported by one of our dedicated engineers who will be there to ensure everything runs smoothly from a technical perspective for your session.
Please join your session early. For conferences, aim for 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. For webinars and all other events, 30 minutes before your scheduled start time. Let your dedicated engineer know you’ve arrived in the chat. This gives you time to get set up backstage before going live.
Anticipate common questions and prepare brief answers. Familiarise yourself with the Q&A tools in the platform, and feel free to engage with the live chat during your session. Keep your answers concise to address more questions.
