Talk Details
Significant and persistent racial disparities in mental health impact everything from the prevalence of conditions to the accessibility and quality of services. Despite being well-documented for decades, progress has been slow. Many of the programmes led by and for racialised communities which are making a positive difference are often overlooked.
Join this session to explore current developments and initiatives aimed at advancing racial justice in mental health under the new government. You’ll learn about steps being taken, including reforms to the Mental Health Act, and hear about impactful community-led actions such as the Black Mental Health Manifesto and the Young Changemakers Programme.
Key learnings from this session:
- Up to date information about racial inequalities in mental health and the impact of racism on mental health
- The new government’s pledges and priorities in this area
- Calls to actions from the sector and communities and how you can get involved
