

Asma Hussain (she/her) is a freelance fundraising professional with over ten years of experience of securing major gifts for the arts and charity sectors. Her skills cut across trusts and foundations, individual giving and events. Clients Asma has worked with include Revoluton Arts CIC, Mediorite, Chinese Arts Now, Black Womxn in Theatre, Community Arts by ZK, and Futures Theatre. Her previous roles in the arts include Executive Director of tiata fahodzi, Trusts & Foundations Manager at the Royal Opera House, and Development Manager at Theatre Royal Stratford East. Asma has also worked in the charity sector as Head of Fundraising at national social change charity, Campaign Bootcamp; and as Development Manager for the place-based funder, the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation.
As well as securing income, Asma has led, developed and implemented fundraising strategies and business plans for arts and charitable organisations, working closely with CEOs and Boards to ensure income generation strategies are in line with organisational priorities and values. As a freelance fundraising consultant, she works primarily with Black, Asian and ethnically diverse led organisations and artists to secure income for projects and core operations.
Asma is Chair of AWA DANCE, Trustee and Chair of the Development Committee of Paines Plough, and Trustee of A New Direction. Asma was formerly Trustee of Queen's Theatre Hornchurch and Chair of its first Fundraising Board, during which time she oversaw the theatre’s first large scale capital campaign.
