Hannah Awesome
Head of Community and Events Fundraising
With over 25 years of experience across both the commercial and charity sectors, I am a strategic and collaborative leader in fundraising, community engagement, and relationship management. I value teamwork and partnership, and throughout my career have led teams, managed budgets, and worked alongside volunteers, fundraisers, and supporters to deliver sustainable growth and meaningful impact.
As Head of Community and Events at the National Deaf Children’s Society, I am passionate about creating supporter experiences that make people feel valued, connected, and empowered to share their stories. I believe that exceptional stewardship is built on authentic relationships, and when supporters feel genuinely invested in a cause, they feel listened to, communicated with in a way that resonates with them, and both they and the charity benefit.
I also believe in the importance of fun in fundraising, using creativity and engagement to bring campaigns to life and inspire participation. A career highlight was leading a campaign in partnership with Hasbro, which included having Daddy Pig as one of my London Marathon runners—an example of how playful, imaginative approaches can create memorable moments and strong supporter engagement.
I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work. As someone who is profoundly deaf and uses a cochlear implant and hearing aid, I am passionate about championing inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring environments where everyone can fully participate, engage, and thrive.
