Freelance Fundraiser & Project Commissioner

Natalie Chan

Natalie is an award-winning arts fundraiser and producer from Hong Kong and working in the UK

Currently, she works as Arts and Culture Project Commissioner for Luton Borough Council and as Production Coordinator for Jonathan Church Theatre Productions with a focus on productions touring to Asia.

Recent Theatre Producer credits includes: The Lonesome Death of Eng Bunker (Kakilang, Omnibus Theatre); The Dao of Unrepresentative British Chinese Experience (Kakilang, Soho Theatre); This is Not A Show About Hong Kong (UNTAPPED and Fringe First Winner); Bakla (Asian Arts Awards Winner); Blanket Ban (UNTAPPED Winner, Southwark Playhouse) Best of Enemies West End (As Associate Producer); WILD the Musical – City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (As Consultant).

With ambition for a more inclusive arts and culture, she was Innovator and Agent for Change for Artistic Directors of the Future between 2022-2023; where she researched and evidenced hidden barriers faced by Global Majority practitioners stepping into leadership positions, and made cases for change and peer to peer support. She was also awarded the Community Grant from Film and TV Charity to deliver peer to peer support during COVID19.

In 2024 she became Executive Director for Streatham Space Project, a grass-roots, neighbourhood arts centre in South London. Faced with an uncertain fundraising landscape, leadership meant accurate financial forecasts, responsible decision-making, looking after staff and stakeholders during programme wind down and eventual closure. Natalie is now translating some of this experience into supporting others, she was a speaker at the International Society for Performing Arts Congress in Perth 2024 and Charity Times Annual Conference 2025, and facilitated and participated in the PAMPA European Producers Residency 2025

Natalie has held previous leadership roles for Streatham Space Project and Kakilang (Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation producing East and Southeast Asian Artists). Other previous roles include: Producer for In Good Company; General Manager for Creative Youth, where she won the Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy’s Giving Tuesday Competition for Digital Innovation. She is also a recipient of the Blackbaud Scholarship for completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Philanthropic Studies at the University of Kent.
