Sophia Stovall

Bio

Sophia Stovall is Head of Development Operations for English Heritage, a charity that manages over 400 historic monuments, buildings and places across England. Based out of Bishop Auckland, Sophia works across the country to ensure the successful philanthropic and business development activity across English Heritage’s Development Department.  

A senior leader with over fifteen years of experience in the cultural sector, Sophia has developed a deep knowledge and understanding of the cultural sector and has successfully worked to deliver income growth, implemented new ways of working and infrastructures to support future sustainability of some of the region’s best loved cultural destinations, organisations and collections.

Having begun her career at the Art Fund, London - Sophia relocated to the North East 12 years and since then has worked for ISIS Arts (now D6), Sage Gateshead, Development Manager - Durham Cathedral an most recently as Head of Development -Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums TWAM. Sophia is also the Chair of the Advisory Board, University College, Durham University and is a Non-Executive Director of Durham Business Group.
