Bio

I am Community Development Practitioner working in and among vulnerable communities of the Gauteng province based in Johannesburg, South Africa. I specialize in rallying and mobilising communities to explore and respond to social vulnerabilities of poverty through integrated creative tools since 1997 upon undergoing a Programme on Community Leadership Development at the University of Witwatersrand’s School of Public Development and Community Building at the Beit Berl College in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1995 while serving at the National Council of Trade Unions as an Education Officer, negotiator and co-ordinator.

In 2003, I participated in the formation of the South African National Jazz Foundation, an affiliate membership federation of jazz appreciation appreciators, where I was appointed Projects Manager and started an audience development programme in conjunction with the South African Music Promoters Association, specifically for the Joy of Jazz festivals, both in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Consequent to an earlier interest in organising tours to the Market theatre and learning from this development, I cemented a similar relationship with one of the premier arts festivals in the South African events calendar, the Mangaung Arts and Culture Festival between 2002 and 2008.
