Make Your First Fundraising Film in 3 Hours
Leave this hands-on workshop with a completed fundraising film and the confidence to create more. This practical session tackles the biggest barriers charities face: not knowing where to start and feeling “not creative enough.”
Hour one covers story identification, ethical filmmaking principles, and consent practices, ending with your concept and rough script ready. Hour two focuses on filming fundamentals using your phone – framing, lighting, audio, and interview techniques – before you record your own fundraising pitch or story. The final hour introduces simple CapCut editing, followed by a group viewing and feedback session celebrating everyone’s creations.
You’ll discover how to spot compelling stories in your daily work, learn the technical basics without intimidation, and develop strategies for your content.
Perfect for anyone who’s ever thought “I wish I could make videos but don’t know how to start.”
Key learnings from this session:
Participants will discover they’ve been sitting on amazing stories all along, learning to spot fundraising gold hiding in their everyday work conversations and activities. We’ll tackle the scary ethical stuff head-on, making consent practices and responsible storytelling feel manageable rather than overwhelming.
Everyone will become surprisingly confident with their phone camera, learning simple tricks that make their videos look infinitely better without spending a penny on fancy gear. They’ll learn the art of getting people talking naturally on camera, capturing those genuine moments that make donors reach for their wallets.
The editing session transforms participants into CapCut wizards (well, maybe apprentices!), turning their raw footage into something they’ll actually be proud to share.
The real magic happens when participants realise they’re far more creative than they thought, breaking through those “I could never do this” barriers. They’ll embrace the liberating truth that wonky, heartfelt videos often raise more money than glossy corporate productions.
By the end, everyone leaves with their very own fundraising film and an enthusiasm for creating more compelling content that actually gets results.
