During the day I am a Retention Specialist at ActionAid UK and by evening (and weekends) I'm an activist.
I served two terms (that's a 4 year period) at Sunday Assembly, during which the organisation survived COVID.
Leveraging the Trusteeship to facilitate the movement's model was both terrifying and exhilarating, based on in-person community meets ups.
By the end of the Board's efforts we achieved so much with Sunday Assembly. If something is built together it's stronger for all.
Navigating a small community charity towards a more connected and sustainable future was both terrifying and exhilarating. The adrenalin pumped and I’d be doing prospect research and writing grants. As the charity’s fundraising Lead I also needed to think about internal fundraising.
In this talk, I’d like to get us all thinking about the ongoing experiences people have with the charity/ies they choose to support shouldn’t be taken for granted.
