Sam grew up on Dartmoor dreaming of becoming an actor (well the next Harrison Ford actually). That didn’t happen!
He has been channelling his passion for social justice through fundraising for over twenty years. Starting in F2F at the Gift Group in 2002, working with over 60 charity clients in his 10 years there. In 2012 he joined St John Ambulance, doubling net income in five years through working with an amazing team of fundraisers and agencies. In 2017 he joined Tibet Relief Fund as their Director of Fundraising and Communications, working with a ting and committed team to grow their capacity for digital integration and developing an organisational strategy with their executive team.
In September 2019 he started at Starlight as Head of Public Fundraising. We have navigated the pandemic by delivering a playground of new products to support our vital play services for seriously ill children.
He believes new product development is key, and that we need to be braver in embracing the entrepreneurial spirit available to fundraisers.
He loves Bruce Springsteen and the power of bringing people together to achieve good. His mantra is the Bosses: "Getting an audience is hard. Sustaining an audience is hard. It demands a consistency of thought, of purpose, and of action over a long period of time." - Springsteen
He still has delusions of grandeur
